The little one wanted to take dosas to school today. Dosas are  a South Indian food -  like rice crepes - can be soft or crispy, served with chutneys or curries or pickles or chutney powders... or anything!!! 😍  Avi likes his dosas 'medium' - soft and crispy... lol 
Now, dosas tends to get dry by the time the snack break sets in (at least mine do!!)... So... like a good asana teacher, I modified! I shallow fried them in this unniappam dish (another gorgeous GORGEOUS delicacy) & voila! Baby dosas - soft, crispy, quick & healthy!

They're just right for the turn of seasons - tridoshic with the fermented batter of multiple grains and pulses, ghee and airy centers all adding to pitta, vata & kapha doshas...

All the doshas in Ayurveda  benefits from directly using the senses.  I am feeling so grounded by making the most from the senses of sight, touch, hearing & smell right now. (Not to forget about the warm cracked wheat porridge with almonds and cinnamon,which I inhaled in seconds through taste senses on this cold morning for breakfast).
.
Anyways have you ever thought why do scents affect us so strongly?
.
Did you know that the sense of smell is one of the oldest senses in the evolutionary history of vertebrates? With every breath we smell using the approximately 10 million olfactory cells which are present in our olfactory mucosa!
.
When we first enter a room or meet an unknown person, it is usually the sense of smell that creates the first impression. Quite unconsciously, many people say, "It smells fishy to me."
.
Also our memories and emotions are closely linked with scents and smells. A smell can suddenly trigger the memory of a long forgotten situation in which we smelt it for the first time.
.
When you see, hear, feel and taste, the impressions must first be processed and assessed in the cerebral cortex of the brain. Fragrances, however, get through the so-called olfactory bulb directly into the limbic system of the brain that affects the control of emotions, memory and drive. So even before we consciously perceive a scent it has already touched us on a subconscious level. .
The limbic system in the brain is also responsible for the release of endorphins, the body's own "happiness hormones". Therefore fragrances are able to release these neurotransmitters and cause feelings of relaxation, well-being and happiness.

How does Ayurveda use the power of scents?
.
In Ayurveda,each fragrance unfolds its own effect on the doshas. I will write more about it next time. .
What draws you to a perfume? How do you feel after a deep inhalation of your favorite fragrance?

Tridosha formed by Basic Elements (ether, air, fire, water, and earth ) that govern all the biological, psychological and physiopathological functions of the body. 🤸🏻‍♂️there are innumerable subtle variations that depend upon the percentages of vata-pitta-kapha. We  all have the 3 humors... YES! We all have vata, Pitta and kapha. These reflect the pure aspect of each constitutional element, however, no individual constitution is made up solely of one element; rather, each person is a combination of all the three elements with a predominant tendency toward one or more!!! 🤸🏻‍♀️the tridosha are responsable for the arising of natural urges and for individual preferences in foods. They govern the creation, maintenance and destruction of Bodily tissue, and the elimination of waste products from the body.
🤸🏻‍♀️tridosha is also responsable for psychological phenomena, including human emotions.
🌪Ether and air elements formed vata dosha.
🔥fire and water elements manifest together in the body as Pitta Dosha 🌎Earth and water manifest as Kapha dosha.

The basic constitution of elements present at birth (Prakriti) remains constant. However, the combination of elements that governs the continuos physiopathological changes in the body alters in response to changes in the environment (vikruti, which means the dosha that is tainted in a specific moment). This is vital to know that diets must change according to seasons, vikruti and Prakriti. Ayurveda is not a label of doshas but pure knowledge of inner self and nature. Elemen Agni (api) disebut juga 'tejas' dalam bahasa Sanskrit, adalah elemen ketiga dari Pancamahabhuta (lima elemen dasar). Urutan Pancamahabhuta dimulai dari Akasha (eter), Vayu (udara), Agni (api), Jala (air) dan Prithivi (bumi). Agni berasal dari evolusi elemen Akasha (eter,ruang) dan Vayu (udara), yang dimana Agni (api) mengandung esensi dari dua unsur/elemen tersebut didalam dirinya.

Akasha (eter) memberikan Agni (api) ruang untuk eksistensinya, sementara Vayu (udara) memberikan Agni (api) kapasitas untuk dapat membakar. Karena Vayu (udara), maka Agni (api) akan memiliki kualitas untuk terus bergerak.

Agni (api) sebagai elemen mewakili kapasitas untuk memananaskan dan memberi cahaya. Agni (api) didalam tubuh manusia berperan sebagai penghasil energi, transformasi dan manifestasi seperti halnya matahari bagi bumi.

Asal Agni (api) sebelum menjadi elemen Pancamahabhuta (lima elemen dasar) adalah Pancatanmatra (lima esensi/elemen yang sangat halus) penglihatan yang disebut Rupa Tanmatra. Rupa berarti bentuk atau warna. Baik bentuk ataupun warna adalah hasil dari persepsi. Rupa adalah Tanmatra (esensi) atau bentuk persepsi dari cahaya, penglihatan primordial, bentuk yang tidak termanifestasi dari persepsi dan yang membentuk elemen Agni (api). Agni (api) dan Chaksu Indriya (indera penglihatan) memiliki hubungan khusus. Elemen Agni (api) disebut juga 'tejas' dalam bahasa Sanskrit, adalah elemen ketiga dari Pancamahabhuta (lima elemen dasar). Urutan Pancamahabhuta dimulai dari Akasha (eter), Vayu (udara), Agni (api), Jala (air) dan Prithivi (bumi). Agni berasal dari evolusi elemen Akasha (eter,ruang) dan Vayu (udara), yang dimana Agni (api) mengandung esensi dari dua unsur/elemen tersebut didalam dirinya.

a. arroz (algún cereal afín), vegetales al vapor (con curry) y legumbres
b. arroz (algún cereal afín), vegetales al vapor (con curry), legumbres y/o sopa (con alguna especia indicada)
c. arroz (algún cereal afín), vegetales al vapor (con curry), legumbres, sopa (con alguna especia indicada) y/o buttermilk (crema de leche agria).
Cualquiera de estas combinaciones tiene ghee dentro de su receta.

Asal Agni (Elemen Api)

Elemen Agni (api) disebut juga 'tejas' dalam bahasa Sanskrit, adalah elemen ketiga dari Pancamahabhuta (lima elemen dasar). Urutan Pancamahabhuta dimulai dari Akasha (eter), Vayu (udara), Agni (api), Jala (air) dan Prithivi (bumi). Agni berasal dari evolusi elemen Akasha (eter,ruang) dan Vayu (udara), yang dimana Agni (api) mengandung esensi dari dua unsur/elemen tersebut didalam dirinya.

Akasha (eter) memberikan Agni (api) ruang untuk eksistensinya, sementara Vayu (udara) memberikan Agni (api) kapasitas untuk dapat membakar. Karena Vayu (udara), maka Agni (api) akan memiliki kualitas untuk terus bergerak.

Agni (api) sebagai elemen mewakili kapasitas untuk memananaskan dan memberi cahaya. Agni (api) didalam tubuh manusia berperan sebagai penghasil energi, transformasi dan manifestasi seperti halnya matahari bagi bumi.

Asal Agni (api) sebelum menjadi elemen Pancamahabhuta (lima elemen dasar) adalah Pancatanmatra (lima esensi/elemen yang sangat halus) penglihatan yang disebut Rupa Tanmatra. Rupa berarti bentuk atau warna. Baik bentuk ataupun warna adalah hasil dari persepsi. Rupa adalah Tanmatra (esensi) atau bentuk persepsi dari cahaya, penglihatan primordial, bentuk yang tidak termanifestasi dari persepsi dan yang membentuk elemen Agni (api). Agni (api) dan Chaksu Indriya (indera penglihatan) memiliki hubungan khusus. Agni (api) menyediakan cahaya untuk persepsi sedangkan Netra (mata) adalah kendaraan yang mampu melewatkan cahaya tersebut untuk dicerna/diproses sehingga persepsi dapat terjadi.

As ervilhas são um alimento riquíssimo em nutrientes com vitaminas A, B1. B2, B3, B6, C, K, ácido fólico, fósforo, magnésio, cobre, ferro, zinco, potássio, fibras e proteínas. De acordo com a Ayurveda, as ervilhas são praticamente um alimento tridosha também!

Segue então a receita da sopa pra você fazer já!

Ingredientes
- 1 xícara de ervilha seca
- 4 xícaras de chá de água
- 1 cebola picada
- 1 dente de alho
- 1 colher de chá de óleo de girassol prensado a frio
- 2 inhames descascados e picados
- 3 colheres de sopa de salsa e cebolinha picados
- Sal a gosto
- 1 colher de chá de cúrcuma
- 1 pimenta de cheiro picada pequena
- 2 folhas de louro

Modo de preparo:
1.  Deixe a ervilha de molho em água por cerca de 2 horas.
2. Escorra a água, coloque as 4 xícaras de água em uma panela com a ervilha e o louro e leve ao fogo por cerca de 30 minutos ou quando a ervilha começar a ficar macia.
3. Adicione o inhame e deixe cozinhar até ele ficar macio. Desligue o fogo e reserve.
4. Em outra panela, em fogo baixo, coloque o óleo e refogue o alho e a cebola até dourarem levemente. Acrescente a pimenta, a cúrcuma e misture na ervilha. Deixe cozinhar tudo junto por cerca de 2 minutos, acrescente o sal e bata no liquidificador com cuidado.
5. Acrescente a salsa e cebolinha e sirva em seguida.

The third dosha is Kapha Dosha. You’ll hear me say the word dosha quite often. Dosha is a mix of the elements, Kapha dosha is the EARTH and WATER element, predominantly EARTH.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I just want to point out that while you’ll recognise one or two doshas predominantly in yourself we are all a blend of three and each dosha has a function in the body.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Kapha people are generally have well developed bodies and more likely to put on weight. Their skin is thick soft and oily, they are less likely to get wrinkles. Hair can be thick, dark, soft and wavy. Kapha tend to love their food, they can overeat and be emotional eaters. Kapha people talk and move slowly. Kapha are also very loving, caring, forgiving and generally happy and peaceful. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Like attracts like therefore consuming too many heavy, cold and oily food can increase Kapha. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

BALANCED KAPHA - Kapha can be calming, patient, kind, generous, loving, calm⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

UNBALANCED KAPHA - Kapha can suffer from depression, high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, lack of energy, recurrent chest infections; bronchitis, pneumonia, coughs, colds, they can be stubborn, hold a grudge, feel stuck. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
