I’ve been Learning how thoughts and feelings are like a wheel. Think of a bike wheel you have spokes which are your thoughts and feelings, and you have the hub which is your normal state of being and values. The hub generally stays in the same spot, but the spokes are constantly turning. You may have those bad thoughts or feelings come up but know they will pass. To feel sad or angry is to feel human. Things that help me get my wheel spinning again and change the negative thoughts are: gardening/being in nature I love putting my stress back in to the earth and the earth provides healing, and going for a run or walk to get my blood flowing and my brain relaxed. What are some things that help you get your wheel spinning to move away from the negative head space? .

I’ve been a serial monogamist my entire life.
I was pregnant and married at 30,
A milestone birthday I thought I’d be celebrating traveling to India to study Ashtanga yoga.
A husband and kiddo=
NOT on my bucket list at that time.
Very few oof any of our friends at that time were where we were.
They were building careers and still dating as we tried to navigate parenthood.

5 years later:
Old Facebook posts have been popping up on my feed showing me just how much of a struggle it all was.
God showing me my unhappiness.

I lost myself for awhile there.
fought life on life’s terms in so many ways making everyone miserable in my wake.
There were external factors that contributed for sure.
But a good chunk was my own making.

But...
these days,
These days I wake up grateful for the beautiful people in my life.
I have a job and promising career.
Told by coworkers how my “sunny disposition” is great to have around.
Since my family is friends showing up for Caleb that blows me away. 〰️
No rushing to fill the void this time.
It had to be me this time.
Showing myself I can do it.

Day 2 of physio and I'm starting to regain movement in my toes a little. It's not much but every step forward is exciting to me now...excuse the pun. Slight plot twist though....I'm flying to Africa on Friday. For 2 weeks wild camping with a foot brace and crutches. Wish me luck!?

Been vet checked looks like a female. she has had her first set of shots she gets her second round in a week and then her third round a few weeks after that she's now about 10 weeks old maybe 11. I remember being so drunk one night, after fighting with my ex… a bottle of wine in one hand, a pint onfben n jerry’s in the other. I came up with every reason I hated my life; I hated myself, my job, the weight I had gained, I hated my relationship, I hated how broke I was. For some damn reason that night I stepped on the scale – and told myself before the number appeared “Well if you get to over 200lbs you might as well kill yourself because there’s no turning back from there”
The scale read 203lbs that night. I tried to kill myself that night. I took so many pills that night that I didn’t wake up for almost 2 days. I’ve only ever admitted this to 1 person. I thought I was alone. I thought I had nothing to look forward to in my life. I thought I was stuck in a situation I would never get out of with my abusive ex, I convinced myself I was the world’s worst mother. I had let myself go, not just physically, but emotionally as well. 
I’m here to tell you you’re not stuck. I’m here to tell you shit can change. I’m here to tell you no matter how powerless you feel; you hold ALL the MF power inside of you that you need. I left that relationship, got a new job, gained supports. I followed my passions. I changed my MF life after that night. I was meant for more. 
This road hasn’t been just about weight loss. It’s been about gaining back my life, my power, my love for myself. I can talk on & on about how all you need is 30mins a day, wifi, a 10ft space to lose what I’ve lost. 
But this has been more about the gain. The ability to look in the mirror and not cry. The ability to not sit at home and hate myself, but go out and enjoy time with the people I have in my life. The ability to feel good enough. 
So stop. Stop telling yourself you’re not worthy – because you are. Stop telling yourself you can’t change because you can. Just START. Make up your mind, and stick to it. Do it for everytime you’ve cried yourself to sleep. Do it for everytime you’ve looked in the mirror and and hated what you saw.  Do it for everytime you’ve felt inadequate. Do it for the confidence. Do it just for the goddamn sake of loving yourself. I've been there, babe. I’m here for you too 💕💌

Ever heard someone say? “Geez they are paranoid”.. I can admit I’ve had these thoughts many of times. The time spent over analyzing the situations vs the actual situation can be so overwhelming. 
No, you are not crazy. I like to think of it as our mind works overtime. We are deep thinkers, I know I am. I feel like sometimes more activity is going on in my head than my life- which is a lot. I’ve always been that way, I am observant and over analyze. That doesn’t make me any less of a person, nor does it make you. 
However, something I’ve had to teach myself if letting go. Letting go of the past, letting go of yesterday, letting go of this morning, because right now is right now. It’s hard to retrain the brain to think that way, and let’s be honest “just don’t think about it” doesn’t help at all. Journaling helped me let go, writing things out and physically letting go in a sense. Which is why I added the Peak Of Panic journal to the Anxiety Toolkits. Journaling can be huge in your recovery @anxietytoolkit.

This is so good whether you identify as Christian or not. Even if you decide you don’t believe Jesus is the son of God, I would still highly recommend studying his teachings and all scriptures. Even other faiths recognize him and Mother Mary as being very significant and enlightened people. There are so many valuable things in the Bible, and I wish we would all follow this example of love. Maybe we could make some progress politically, physically, spiritually, and in so many other areas. Imagine what a world would be like if we treated each other in a manner such as this. I used to view certain methods as being weak, but now I realize how much strength and self-discipline it takes to respond to adversity in this way. It aids memory, makes it easier to learn new things, boosts your immune system, hormone production, puts the brakes on aging, protects your mind (it can stave off dementia) and heart health. The stats relating to lack of sleep and early death are enough to keep you up at night.

Here are some ways to help you sleep better and create a sleep sanctuary.

Neuro-Association:
If you’re lying in bed and can’t get to sleep, then you need to get out of bed and go into another room and do something else. You need to associate your bed/bedroom with sleep. You wouldn’t sit at a dinner table waiting to get hungry, so why would you lie in bed waiting to sleep.

Blue Light Exposure:
Looking at your Mobile phone, iPad and television can give you major sleep problems. They trigger your body into producing daytime hormones (such as cortisol) and block off melatonin release. Melatonin is like the start gun to a race. It starts the cycle and the process of sleep. You can prevent this by turning on Night Shift on your iPhone or use Twilight on your android phone or tablet to limit the amount of blue light usage. Alternatively, you can buy blue light blocking glasses which will do the same job. You can also put a curfew on using your electronic devices.

Regularity:
You need to go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time every day, even on the weekends. Regularity is king. It will anchor your sleep and improve the quantity and quality of your sleep.

Keep it Cool:
Your body needs to drop its temperature by about 2-3 °F to initiate and stay asleep. It’s the reason why you will always find it easier to fall asleep in a room that’s too cold than too hot. Aim for a bedroom temperature of 65°F or 18°C. That’s going to be optimal.

Tonight we graduate Kevin.  What a remarkable story. #thelhgraduate “I tried to get sober on my own with no success, it was too hard, so finally I surrendered and asked for help and guidance. I had to come to terms with the fact that I was an addict, which was very hard to believe because I had always pictured an addict/alcoholic as the guy behind the liquor store with a brown bag living on the streets. That was not me, I had a job, a college degree, and a great family. However, addiction is completely unbiased and it does not matter what race, religion or economic status you are, without the tools of a 12-step program addiction wins every time. Along with working a 12-step program in my every day life, there has been a few other factors that have played a huge role in my sobriety this past year. One being the community that The Last House offered, I have surrounded myself with people who have the same goal as me and are just as willing to fight this disease, true friends who will call me out when I am acting out or be there when times are tough. Another big piece has been education, learning everything there is to know about addiction and also trying to spread that message to others. My family has done their part on learning about addiction as well and I am so grateful for that. It is game changing to know that I have family support in this, but ultimately it is a choice and that comes down to me! This past year was very challenging but at the same time very rewarding. I received a message of hope from the Universe to share. ✨✨✨I was looking through Instagram last week, not really paying any particular attention to anything, I’m still recovering from the surgery and my concentration right now is very minimal, when suddenly these words just jumped out at me and struck me - this too shall pass - Oh WOW!!! I turned off my phone and I quickly wrote them down so I don’t forget them. I sat there holding them inside of me, allowing them to linger taking in their meaning and their magick. 🦋
These words were exactly what I needed. I’ve been so caught up in the web of this recovery, that I’m not seeing the light. Mostly I have no energy and I’m dragging through the days. In my last blog post I wrote about being deliriously happy because I can drive myself now, and I am but, I’m far from recovered. This recovery is not a walk in the park, I’m not back to my normal self and I haven’t been able to get back into my daily routine, into a rhythm that supports and uplifts my life every day. I know it will take time but I wasn’t remembering this when those words screamed out at me.

When we’re going through a rough patch, no matter what it is, a divorce, a recovery, an emotional time, we don’t remember that things will get better, that we will get through this, that we will be OK. It’s hard to see an end, it’s hard to envision light went in the dark. But, the truth is that whatever we’re going through, it’s not going to last forever, it will get better. We live in a universe that is always changing and moving and so are we, that’s just how it is. And regardless of anything as this amazing Universe reminded me, the truth is that no matter what - this too shall pass -
I’m carrying these words with me, empowered and hopeful with the knowing that I’ll be OK and I’m hoping that it brings you comfort as it does for me - Knowing that whatever you’re going through is not forever and will pass.

Sometimes we take on that frantic “must work out every day” mindset and completely forget that one of the most important parts of exercising effectively is giving our bodies time to recover. Over exercising can do more harm than good. Many programs incorporate prolonged or intolerable amounts of stress that can lead to exhaustion. If the stress is too much physiologically for the system to handle, it can and will lead to overuse injuries, such as stress fractures, muscle strains, and joint pain. So often we hear about the important health benefits of exercise and the negative side effects of inactivity, but it’s not as common to hear about why we also need to allow our bodies some time to rest. Intense workouts definitely shouldn’t be a daily occurrence. When you perform excessive amounts of exercise without proper rest and recovery you may experience some harmful side effects including decreased performance, fatigue, altered hormonal states, poor sleeping patterns, and compromised immunity, just to name a few. The intensity level of your workout, the total volume of your weekly training, your training experience, and your age, will all influence the exact amount of recovery time you’ll need. Resting is just as important as working out because it’s an equal part of the total process required to build strength, endurance, and muscle.
Working out, especially resistance training, breaks your body tissues down. In fact, resistance training breaks down muscles causing microscopic tears. Rest days allow your muscles, nerves, bones, and connective tissue time to rebuild. Be sure to schedule a couple days a week to let your body heal.
As for taking a recovery day, you don’t have to sit around on your butt all day. Instead, strive for an active recovery day. Do some gentle yoga, take a walk, or do some STRETCHING. All of these activities will still give your body the break it needs and actually helps to loosen tight muscles and get that lactic acid buildup moving as well as getting an adequate amount of sleep and water :) ———————————————————

So I went to the gym late last night, I'm slowly easing myself back into the gym since having two weeks off to rest my body from the gym but not work as i love my job. 
Wednesday is my longest day because I have to be in Guildford for an appointment in the evening.

I want to be honset with you, as I know people will either judge me or be there for me. So the last few days I have been training late at the gym or when I know it's quite, this is because when the gym is really busy either in the afternoon or evening I find it hard to get myself into the gym because I have an anxiety attack before I even step foot into the gym. When this happens to me I walk up and down the stairs before finding the courage to get myself into the gym. 
I'm glad I have the staff at @puregymepsom I can talk to, especially @danifieldgoodfitness when we train together, as well as my old trainer too.
It has taken me alot of courage to write this, but I'm ready to open and honset about my social anxiety and other stuff I have going on which I will be open about in few weeks.

Hot baths, CBD oil, tarot, meditation, affirmations,  hiking, self-massage, cuddling kittens, a pint of ice cream, talking to a friend, journaling, gentle dance, creative therapies... these and any of the self-care tools we use to feel just a little bit better every day are vitally important. *And* so is practicing sitting with our discomfort and pain. 
We are soft, human animals and every single one of us will know what it’s like to hurt, to lose, to suffer, to die. This is the way of things. It is not a problem to be solved anymore than life is a problem to be solved. Everything in nature knows of cycles... that things grow for a time, and then they wither, and then they die and become compost for new life.

We live in a solar culture which promotes doing and growth and self-improvement and feeling always better and being always more than the day before. This isn’t sustainable. A full, well life includes the entire range of human experience and emotion. We aren’t going to escape the dark and stillness and slowing and falling apart and pain and grief, friends. The best practice is to consciously, intentionally make time and space to learn the skill of being with our discomfort, being with our tenderest feelings, being with our f* you scars, being with our dis-ease, being with our own mortality without turning away and immediately applying some balm to make it “feel better.” Of course it’s important to support ourselves, body-mind-heart-spirit-space, through what hurts. *And * it’s important to be fully present and do absolutely nothing but be with our pain and honor our whole, very human experience of life.
Hot baths, CBD oil, tarot, meditation, affirmations, hiking, self-massage, cuddling kittens, a pint of ice cream, talking to a friend, journaling, gentle dance, creative therapies... these and any of the self-care tools we use to feel just a little bit better every day are vitally important. *And* so is practicing sitting with our discomfort and pain.
We are soft, human animals and every single one of us will know what it’s like to hurt, to lose, to suffer, to die. This is the way of things. It is not a problem to be solved anymore than life is a problem to be solved. Everything in nature knows of cycles... that things grow for a time, and then they wither, and then they die and become compost for new life.

We live in a solar culture which promotes doing and growth and self-improvement and feeling always better and being always more than the day before. This isn’t sustainable. A full, well life includes the entire range of human experience and emotion. We aren’t going to escape the dark and stillness and slowing and falling apart and pain and grief, friends. The best practice is to consciously, intentionally make time and space to learn the skill of being with our discomfort, being with our tenderest feelings, being with our f* you scars, being with our dis-ease, being with our own mortality without turning away and immediately applying some balm to make it “feel better.” Of course it’s important to support ourselves, body-mind-heart-spirit-space, through what hurts. *And * it’s important to be fully present and do absolutely nothing but be with our pain and honor our whole, very human experience of life.
